Jane Gordon's - call for address Evening Study Group - note change in date and location. Join us as we learn more about climate literacy. The focus will be on the Next steps: Choices you Can Make in your Home. We will learn what we can do as individuals to mitigate the effects of climate change. LWVM members Carol Adams Davis and Lella Lowe will lead the discussion, sharing concrete steps we can take as well as information about other local organizations addressing climate change issues.

This will be the final study group session in the Climate Change series. Next month we will begin to examine Voting. Come learn and join the fun. It is a pot luck event, so bring a dish to share. Call or email Jane for directions or 251-402-3321.

  L'Arche Walk for Organizations. LWVM will participate in a special walk on Sunday, January 14, 2018, organized by L'Arche, as part of a series of events going on throughout Mobile celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. over the MLK holiday weekend. Each participating organization will walk one mile. If you are interested in walking the LWVM mile, please contact LWVM for additional details. ( Note that this is a walk, not a run. The L'Arche annual First Light Marathon will be going on simultaneously, but this special event is a walk.)

Monthly Luncheon - "What Can We Do?". This is the wrap up of our series of discussions on the coastal impact of climate change. LWVM member Renee Collini, Coordinator of the North Gulf of Mexico Sentinel Site Cooperative/Dauphin Island Sea Lab, is the featured speaker, sharing with us ways in which each of us can help to reduce the impact of climate change.

All LWVM luncheon events are open to the public, but reservations are required. Please RSVP to Jane Gordon or 251-402-3321 by noon Monday, January 15. Lunch is $18 or $19 by credit card. (Important: the Marriott is under new management and requiring that we give them the rsvp by Monday.) Free seating is also available without the luncheon cost, however, reservations are still required to arrange for extra seating.
